The US government has a secret. It's one of those deep dark dirty little secrets. And they don't want the public to know about it. It could be worse then the ludicrous conspiracy theory that our own government was behind the Kennedy assassination. It's more perplexing than the unlikely proposal that the Apollo Moon landings were frauds and staged here on Earth.

It could even be more dangerous then the Holocaust denialists position that the Nazis didn't instigate the slaughter of several millions of Jews, which nonchalantly suggests that most of them emigrated or escaped to other countries instead. Fortunately, these claims are absolutely improbable, and this other little secret is more plausible, and yet quite incredible. In fact, numerous witnesses will attest to its reality.

I'm talking about Uncle Sam's throwing a blanket over the whole UFO phenomenon, and they've been playing cloak-and-dagger scenarios ever since the 1947 Roswell incident. They have been desperately attempting the suppression of this astounding reality that we already know about anyway. But as much as we know, or think we know, the government is still trying to hide something regarding this whole business. But what? What is left to uncover that we don't know already -- and that they don't want us to know? To answer this, I'll have to lead up to it rather cautiously -- just in case "they" are listening.

Alright, folks, it seems as if the government wants us to believe all UFO sightings or alien encounters and such related occurrences are hoaxes, and that conspiracy theorists and crackpots in general are distributing blatant lies. They say that those claiming to be victims are just weaving wild yarns that's pretty much science fiction. Is this what's really going on, that we've got a lot of tall tale tellers and blatant liars and clever hoaxers? Or are we observing a mixture of truth and lies? Is the government trying to confuse the holy heck out of us in order to cover up what's really going on?

Shortly after 1947, the year of the famous saucer crash near Roswell, New Mexico, countless UFO groups began cropping up, consisting of basic enthusiasts, eyewitnesses, and serious investigators. The government and military alike saw these groups as dangerous threats to national security, because they had the knowledge and ability to expose too much information to the public.

There once existed a government campaign to make the whole UFO phenomenon appear ridiculous. The first team to initiate this strategy was formed in 1953, instigated by the CIA. The plan was to neutralize UFO enthusiasm, to literally defuse what they believed was an emotional time bomb that could explode at any moment and rile up the masses, spreading panic everywhere -- especially if members of the UFO groups happened to grab a hold of dangerous information that they had no business possessing. Not to mention UFO sighters and alien abductees might discover something they shouldn't and then tell everyone what they know.

The government had a serious dilemma on their hands, because holding onto their precious secrets was not easy. They were determined to make the plan work, to alleviate the public’s thrill and excitement in UFOs and aliens, and especially to discredit the swiftly growing UFO groups. For example, through cheesy B Movies and television shows, the submitting of propaganda articles in various magazines, tabloids and other publications, this misinformation group was attempting to relegate UFO enthusiasm to a mere trivial pursuit, a waste of time, and to remind people they had better things to do in life. This clever ploy had the makings of a good convincing argument. As I see it, if you can scare them, then scare the holy bejeebers out of them.

If you can't, then guilt them into it. If sending phony Men in Black agents out with manipulative silencing techniques won't change the public's mind, then give them a guilt complex. Perhaps they'll realize they have better things to do than chase UFOs and little grey men around. Especially when countless UFO sightings are “proven” to be hoaxes (as stated by the government), and outlandish alien stories are found in the tabloids. Not to mention some pretty far-fetched UFO movies really make your eyes roll up in your head -- like Plan 9 from Outer Space. Heck, I'm seriously thinking about dropping the whole subject myself! Or should I refuse to let their brainwashing techniques get to me?

So far, through this campaign of conspiracies, many of these cunning tactics have worked -- against many, but not all. There are a handful of die-hard enthusiasts and UFOlogists and investigators still out on the hunt. And there are countless conspiracy theorists who are more than likely propagating exaggerated stories -- perhaps they were sent out by this CIA UFO-diffusion group. Sometimes you just don't know who to believe, or who to trust.

Throughout the years, witnesses have also been frightened by the ominous Men in Black, which is quite possibly a covert operation initiated by the government to further quell the UFO phenomenon. You don't want close-encounters-of-the-third-kind whackos or alien abductees running around spreading rumors, so it makes perfect sense to send out sinister strangers in dark suits to shut them up. This kind of clandestine action helps the government in keeping its big secret.

The government is still trying to hide something and we the public would like to know what it is. Is the government afraid of something, and if so, what is it? There have been ideas circulating around that certain aliens might be hostile and there are also rumors of the possibility of an alien invasion. I’d like to know who is sending these crazy ideas into public circulation, anyway. Is it the conspiracy crackpots, or are fanatical whistleblowers leaking it out? Quite possibly, certain people that were once on the inside, who knew certain secrets, are now on the outside, and are labeled dangerous to national security. These insiders-become-outsiders either spread the word verbally or they wrote fantastic books on the subject. In various ways the government has tried to discredit them, making them appear to be crackpots.

The government is attacking UFO advocates and believers, desperately discrediting flying saucer enthusiasts, in an attempt to silence them and likewise control the public, because there's obviously something we shouldn't know. If the government is that scared, maybe there is a threat of alien invasion. I doubt if the government just gets a kick out of keeping secrets from the public for no apparent reason. There's always a plausible reason, even if it's the government trying to protect its public against something dangerous or menacing, or at least to prevent mass panic. I suppose if that’s the case, the government has a right to protect us. Especially if extraterrestrial intrusion has been taking place on our planet. But are they indeed protecting us? Cattle mutilations and alien abductions still persist and I see nobody preventing these events.

In fact, Philip J. Corso, author of The Day After Roswell, claims that UFOs were interfering with our affairs in space, such as our manned and unmanned probes, and our aircrafts in the skies, as electrical systems were being tampered with, or “pulsed” by nearby UFOs, not to mention flying discs were cited over many cities and military facilities. Even during the Cold War between the Soviets and the US, the "other cold war" took place between the military and extraterrestrials. He also says there were skirmishes out in space, primarily in our orbit, between our Air Force and the extraterrestrials, ever since the 1947 Roswell incident when it all began. In fact, he declares there has been a war in space for fifty years now! Is this somebody's idea of a harebrained practical joke, or is this the kind of scenario the government is hiding from us?

It's quite possible the military has been shooting down UFOs for decades, starting with the craft that crashed near Roswell. If you consider the rumors that the military has been defending us against intruding UFOs, this corroborates with other reports that this was the real reason for Ronald Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative, otherwise known as “Star Wars,” back in 1985. Hmmm. I think somebody was watching one too many Star Wars movies, and I don't think the Force was ever with them either!

Other assorted rumors state that the military has captured aliens from various crashes, live ones as well as dead. It is believed that these aliens are being stored in facilities such as Area 51. If this is true, perhaps their fellow aliens in the mother ship are pretty upset about it -- and the fact that we have been shooting their crafts down. These reasons alone could be enough for extraterrestrials to start a star wars, if not to blatantly invade our unsuspecting planet.

Is it possible that we live in a world where fantastic science-fiction possibilities could very soon become reality? If our first contact with aliens becomes an aggressive endeavor, would we be the cause in provoking this? Has our sense of fear and panic and a penchant toward warlike behavior provoked them? If we can simply be receptive, with open arms, demonstrating an attitude of peace and friendship, instead of fear and hostility, could things be different between us and the extraterrestrials? They very well may be watching us now, deciding what their next move should be. What are they thinking? “Let’s watch them a little bit longer,” or even, “Invade them!” or possibly, “Annihilate them entirely!” But if we're lucky, they'll just say, "There's no intelligent life down there after all. Let's go somewhere more exciting."

Some reports say there are aliens among us already, disguised as humans. In this case they would be infiltrating in our midst, and this would suggest a more subtle alien invasion, from the inside. This sounds like extraterrestrial espionage, with alien agents watching us from within, possibly preparing us for an invasion from without. How would you know if your neighbors, or your boss, your best friend, or worse, your spouse, were aliens in disguise?!

Actually, such ideas sound like the demented drivel of conspiracy theorists that watch too many science-fiction movies. I'm an open-minded skeptic, so I seriously doubt (vaguely) if there is going to be any kind of alien invasion of body-snatchers, or fleets of ginormous saucer ships whizzing by overhead, or any kind of harebrained scenarios suggested by such movies as War of the Worlds, or Independence Day, or the more ludicrous Mars Attacks!

I say it's all just a lot idiotic hype!

So if it's not extraterrestrial espionage, if it's not a war in space, and not an alien invasion from within or without, exactly what is the government hiding from us? Or is there something to these outrageous claims after all? Will we ever find out?

Holy mackerel! What's that I see outside my window? Oh. It's just the Goodyear blimp. Or is it?

We've been trying to narrow down what secrets the government has been hiding from us involving the whole UFO phenomenon. The problem is there's too much information and disinformation in circulation. There are conspiracy theorists, whistleblowers, alien abductees, UFO and alien eyewitnesses, UFO investigators, and so forth, some of which could be total crackpots, or just wild yarn-spinners. Then we have the disbelievers and skeptics, and the covert government operators, some of which are probably Men in Black, and then we have the military and the government and its intelligence agencies that are trying to cover something up. With all of these people and groups on the loose, how are we the public to know what to believe? How can we discern the truth from the lies?

Can we trust the whistleblowers, many of whom have written fascinating books on how they revealed the truth after keeping government secrets for so many years? Case in point: Col. Philip J. Corso, who wrote The Day After Roswell, claimed many questionable things in his book, one of which is that he inadvertently peaked into a crate containing a dead alien at Fort Riley. And his claim that our military maintained a space war with extraterrestrials, not to mention an alien Cold War, is highly questionable also. Although there is a lot of fascinating information in his book, I’ve been questioning its reliability now, especially since various skeptical individuals have accused Col.Corso of being just another whacked-out crackpot; and yet others have said his book contains a mixture of truth and unresolved data, if not fabrication. So the question is, was he an independent crackpot, or did the government deliberately send him on a mission to write a book filled with propaganda, containing half-lies and half-truths, in an attempt to further confuse the masses with disinformation? Or was he an honest whistleblower trying to reveal the truth of something he was once ordered to keeps secret from the public? We may never know, since he has recently died.

Bob Lazar is another so-called whistleblower who has come out of the government closet, who claimed that he analyzed an alien spacecraft at Area 51. Bob Lazar says he was part of a reverse-engineering operation with an extraterrestrial saucer craft, finding ways to use its propulsion systems for our own aircrafts. Critics have denied his claims, so it's hard to tell if he's just another crackpot, or someone trying to reveal the truth.

Jenny Randles is a UFO investigator who believes Men in Black have been harassing and silencing witnesses of UFO phenomena for the last several decades, at least since 1947. She also reports that they have been thwarting and scaring various UFO investigators also, to stop their research endeavors, sometimes quite successfully. After interviewing countless witnesses and reporting her case studies in her book, The Truth Behind Men In Black, it is obvious that these mysterious MIBs are a large factor in the ongoing UFO cover-ups, although it’s still not clear exactly who or what they are, whether or not they represent the government, the military, extraterrestrials, or if they are simply masquerading hoaxers. Whoever they are, are they covering up more than just UFO sightings and alien abductions and alien encounters? The well-hidden truth of what the government is still trying to hide from us still eludes us, but will we ever find it? Will the whistleblowers and investigators and the eyewitnesses provide enough evidence to blow the lid off the whole UFO cover-up?

How long can the conspiracies and the cover-ups last? And how long will they last before it's too late? When we discover the truth, will it be right in our faces and will there be panic in the streets? Will there be huge flying discs hovering overhead in every major city?

Or is this imaginary scenario just another ploy, another titillating cover-up just to keep us busy while the government is still keeping its best-kept secret?

Is it possible that the government is playing some kind of weird reverse-psychology game with us? Perhaps they are reverse-engineering our brains, but in reverse, practically lobotomizing us into submission. In other words, as the government declares that the whole UFO phenomenon is a hoax, causing us to wonder what they're hiding. How many of you have stumbled upon a large "NO TRESPASSING!" sign, and you’re tempted to enter at your own risk, just to see what the heck is beyond it? It's a natural tendency to be curious about what another is hiding. When a secret is declared, we want to know what it is.

There is a pretty radical theory, probably not as popular as the others, that suggests we are being duped in reverse. A rather strange gentleman named Jim Keith, author of Saucers of the Illuminati, either has a wildly vivid imagination, or maybe he's smoked too much pot in his day -- or possibly he has indeed stumbled upon yet another dark conspiracy.

Perhaps the government seems to be hiding something from us, such as the whole UFO phenomenon, but despite their efforts it leaks out to the public regardless, whereby we are hornswoggled into being so distracted by discovering what we think the government is hiding from us that the real secret is still being concealed from us.

With this in mind, Jim Keith proposes that there is a covert group pulling the strings, either within our government, or they are masterminds of a mysterious shadow government -- essentially the Puppet Masters pulling all the strings. The idea is that such a group has been convolutedly convincing us that we are being observed by extraterrestrials, and that there might even be an invasion on the way, and this paranoia-inciting ploy would serve as a diversionary tactic for something far more sinister in the works, perhaps an inner invasion by agents of this dark organization, with the plan of world domination, creating the New World Order. Jim Keith and other conspiracy theorists propose that the name of this group is the Illuminati, and that its current exterior manifestation is the Freemasons.

Alright, stop right there. I've known a few such Freemasons, and they were very upstanding, spiritually-minded individuals who believed in God and had high moral standards. Perhaps they were fooling me, while we had fascinating mystical conversations about God and the state of the universe and such, when all along they were probably planning world domination. Yeah right. But then again, when such Freemasons discuss humanitarian interests and desiring only what is best for the world, what do these ambiguous implications really mean? Control? Domination? Forced submission? Or are these just paranoid notions of a fear-fraught society -- caused by misguided conspiracy theorists?

Anyway, it is still possible that some cloak-and-dagger outfit, whatever its name may be, has been pulling the wool over our eyeballs all along. Many of us plainly except that UFOs and extraterrestrials are real, and this may be the real cover-up, concealing some diabolical plan of world domination by the alleged Illuminati, who have been undergoing mind control programs, in an attempt to brainwash the population of the planet, through such avenues as propaganda in the newspapers and magazines, television and media in general, citizens being drugged and experimented upon, and sinister mock alien abductions, just to name a few absurd possibilities.

Jim Keith suggests that subtle information can be relayed to TV viewers subliminally. This could mean any messages from “Buy Super Crunchola Bar now!” to “Aliens are invading our planet!” could be delivered to our subconscious minds. There may even be messages regarding the assassination of politicians or famous public figures -- even the president. That doesn't mean everyone listening is going to automatically obey such a message -- but it might just take one screw-loose wacko to respond and commit such a dirty deed. At any rate, Mr. Keith suggests that through the "hypnotic electronic flicker of the television tube, studies have been conducted showing that television actually induces a trance state that, with years of watching, becomes permanent." He goes on to say that TV watchers stare blankly at the screen, entering a lethargic state, and tend to nod off. This would be the best time for some sinister subliminal message to be delivered to our unsuspecting subconscious mind. Sounds scary, eh? Next time you go to watch TV, how long will you hesitate before you turn on the set? Or will you have the courage to walk away? Or if you do turn it on and watch your favorite program, how long will it take before you nod off, becoming receptive to some subliminal diabolical message?

Another clever ploy would be false alien abductions, pulled off by these covert operators, convincing the victim that he has been kidnapped by aliens and experimented upon. Most likely the experiments were real, involving anything from inserting implants (which might be tracking devices) to mind manipulation and other experiments. There is the possibility that the mind control concept from The Manchurian Candidate is quite real, where individuals become assassins without knowing it, and at the right time and place, their preordained command is initiated. There have been many assassinations of public figures in the United States: John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., John Lennon, to name a few, and many failed attempts as well, like Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II. Were these actually committed by Manchurian Candidate-type assassins, sent by the masterminds of this shadow government, called by many the Illuminati?

Nevertheless, these are all possible scenarios, as far as most conspiracy theories go. But it does make you think, that if the government were trying to hide the whole UFO phenomenon, why has it done such a poor job? It is very possible that the UFO phenomenon itself is the cover-up. If that's the case, exactly what is being covered up? The instigation of the plan of world domination by the Illuminati? The rise of the New World Order? At this point, folks, anything’s possible!
