Bill Knell grew up just outside of the New York City metro area during the 1960's. As a child, he began to hear volunteer firemen at his local firehouse talk about seeing strange objects in the sky. Some of the volunteers spoke of similar stories they heard from Police Officers and EMTs. Because Bill's father was a retired Air Force Officer, he heard more than a few tales of pilot encounters with Flying Saucers. These were all credible people considered to be trained observers. All this flew in the face of U.S. Government claims that most UFO witnesses were untrained observers mis-reporting ordinary objects in the sky.

Bill and his family attended a barbeque at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in the early 1960's. Chuck Yeager was invited and gave a short talk. With UFOs in the news at that time, Yeager opted to tell everyone a fascinating story about his own encounter. He recalled how that during the flight of an experimental aircraft sometime in the 1950s, he was shocked when a large disc appeared alongside his plane. His shock turned to serious concern as the object moved in front of him. With little control available to pilot his aircraft, Yeager feared the thing might crash into him. Instead, it vanished! Later he was debriefed and told that the object was an experimental aircraft. He replied, "It couldn't be. My buddies and I fly them all and I know what you got!"

Just after the famous 1960s blackout in New York City, accounts of UFO sightings reported by City Police and Fireman surfaced. These were reported by the local news media. Actors Warren Beatty and Stuart Whitman also claimed to have seen strange disc-shaped glowing objects in the skies over New York during the power outage. All this and the stories he had personally heard from credible witnesses caused Bill to begin reading more about UFOs and other paranormal topics. He attended a number of UFO and Ghost Seminars, meeting legendary figures in the Paranormal Community like Hans Holtzer, John Keel, The Warrens, Uri Geller and others.

By the time he entered High School, Bill's interest in UFOs and the Paranormal was insatiable. He started a UFO Club as part of an after school project for extra-credit based on a subject of personal interest much like the chess, math or science clubs at many schools. He expected a couple of students besides himself to show up. Instead, over 150 people tried to crowd into a classroom meant for fifty. Among them was the School Principal. He was a tough, ex-marine who told the group about seeing a strange object in the skies over Vietnam during 1967. When he tried to report the incident, he was told by his commanding officer to forget it.

After High School, two years of military service in the U.S. Marine Corps, two years of college and continued part time investigation into paranormal events, Bill turned his attention to the full-time investigation of UFOs and the Paranormal as invitations for paid Speaking Engagements increased.
