UFO UPDATE: Read new information about what some have called The Welsh Roswell and how it may be related to the other UFO sightings discussed below...
From BILL KNELL - 6/30 /08:
UK Sightings Persist, Lantern Theory Crumbles and UFOs Invade The Outback
Even though the news media has satisfied itself that the UFO sightings that began on June 7, 2008 in the UK were nothing more than Chinese lanterns set off for a wedding celebration that same day, there is yet another credible sighting report that occurred in the area days later. Dr Simon Griffey, 50, and his son Jack, 23, say they were driving near Llangynidr Mountain in the Brecon Beacons, Powys, when they spotted unusual lights over Talybont-on-Usk in Wales. The incident took place on June 12, 2008 at around 11:40pm and Jack took a cell phone photograph of the lights. It would have been impossible for the lanterns released on June 7th to account for those lights because they would have all burned out and crashed to earth by that time.
Dr Griffey, a psychologist at Cardiff University, told UK newspapers, “There were seven lights and having read the description from the soldiers in Shropshire, there are some similarities. They were the same sort of colour and the same spherical shape that they reported… I know I wasn’t seeing things because Jack saw exactly the same as I did – and two other cars pulled over to look… There was no noise whatsoever, it was a bit eerie. I’ve driven over this mountain for 17 years and have never seen anything like it.”
When confronted with the Chinese Lanterns theory, Dr Griffey stated, “The police helicopter crew said they failed to record the sighting on their equipment.” The psychologist noted the same thing that I pointed out when the lanterns theory was put forth a few days ago, that they should have shown up on the police helicopter‘s camera equipment or the pilot‘s night vision goggles. Furthermore, his son’s photo only captured three of seven objects he was trying to photograph. Dr Griffey went on to say, “If it had been a natural phenomenon you surely would have been able to photograph all of it. I’d like someone to explain – because I have no idea what to make of it.”
The location of the June 12th sighting lies directly between the locations of the June 7th-8th Tern Hills barracks and the St Athan police helicopter incidents. If someone were to explain this sighting using the Chinese lanterns released on June 7th, they would have to explain how those lanterns managed to stay lighted and airborne for days after they were released. And there is still the problem of the daylight sighting of a classic disc-shaped object on June 7th by Shaun Williams. Williams, 12, photographed a classic flying saucer while taking pictures of an airplane. It’s now known that his photo was taken around 3pm, earlier than the alleged release of the Chinese lanterns by a local hotel manager.
On top of all the activity in Wales, a new set of UFO sightings were reported over Basingstoke, England, on Saturday, June 28, 2008 and include photos of up to twelve objects. David Osborne, 47, made this statement to a UK newspaper: “My adrenaline was pumping and I was trembling all over… I’ve never seen anything like it. It was amazing.” The father of two and amateur astronomer asked his daughters to bring his camera outside to where he was watching the oibjects. They did, and he managed to take several photographs before going back in his house to report the UFOs. Osborne called nearby RAF Odiham.
Osborne’s daughters Natalie, 20, and Charlotte, 18, remained outside and watched the objects. Charlotte said, “There were about 12 of these orange-coloured spherical objects. I thought, ‘Oh my God – what the hell is that?’ They were changing formation in the sky for half an hour.” Natalie, a university student, was equally impressed and said, “Chinook helicopters regularly fly over – but these were silent. It’s scary.” The Osbornes were not the only Basingstoke UFO witnesses. Reg Lockyer, 47, claimed he saw up to twenty of them and told a local newspaper, “I thought it was absolutely a fleet of UFOs.”
In behavior that is identical to what happened in places like New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois and Texas over the past year in the USA, witnesses say that the lights over Basingstoke “drifted across the sky, switching from a delta formation, to a random pattern, then an arched line and a triangle before disappearing.” David Osborne said, “They weren’t moving fast enough for a satellite and were hovering, not being blown about by the wind.”
Basingstoke is located in Hampshire, South East England, about forty-eight miles southwest of London. It has a population of over 80,000 people and is no where near the Welsh towns where the June 7th and 8th UFO sightings occurred. Like many areas in England, this town has been the site of multiple UFO sightings over the years and, along with the observations of strange objects in the sky, has been a place where strange creatures have been spotted.
It's important to note that there have been daytime sightings of dark triangle and cube shaped objects in the sky over Hamphire. These have proven to be solar balloons and were NOT self-illuminated. They did not act like the lights that formed into a triangle. In fact, the solar balloon launches began almost immediately after the UK Ministry of Defense UFO files were released and showed that the MOD had officially investigated over forty cases in that area. It was almost as if someone was trying to introduce a 'spoiler' into the scheme of things to discredit sightings of triangular lights throughout the UK.
During the 1990s, one or more big cats (some believe them to be Pumas) were seen in Basingstoke and became known as the Beast of Basingstoke. It is not unusual for areas which are regularly visited by UFOs to also feature reports of animals out of place. These are usually wild animals that appear out of no where in an area where they do not belong and have not been previously reported. Some believe that they are brought to such towns by the UFOs for reasons and agendas unknown.
While all this was going on in the UK, the Australian Press reported that the tiny town of Marlinja, with a population of just 112 people, experienced its own alien invasion. On Sunday, June 21, 2008, the Outback town located in the Northern Territory experienced the sudden appearance of three bright red lights in the sky. In a pattern similar to what happened several months ago in Northern Indiana, USA, a loud noise was heard by residents around 8pm. The noise became so loud that it shook houses.
When residents came out of their homes to see what was causing the noise, they saw three red lights that formed a triangle. The triangle hovered above homes for three hours from 8pm to 11pm until it finally disappeared. During that time the object moved over several houses and hovered just a few feet above the rooftops. The light inside the houses became extremely bright as the object passed over. Ms. Dixon, a Marlinja resident, said, “The light in the house became so bright, it was like we were sitting in a football stadium." Residents said that the loud noise was heard again just before the object vanished.
As with the UK sightings, a number of UFOs have recently been seen in Australia. The sightings began at the end of May with a report from Lawrie Fuchs, 70, and his wife Gwen, 69. The couple were returning to their home town of Elliott following a trip to Queensland. While on route, they claim that a large UFO sped over their vehicle as they drove along the Barkly Highway. Although they have lived in the Elliot area for forty years, the Fuchs say that have never experienced anything like this incident.
Lawrie Fuchs told reporters, “It was about 4pm when suddenly we saw a dark, silvery flash and heard a loud sound as it passed. It was traveling at a terrific speed, very bloody fast, and there was no warning at all. I'm sure it dive-bombed us but I can't imagine why… I do a lot of bush work and over the years I've seen a number of strange, unexplained things, but nothing like this… I actually thought it hit the car, but there were no marks.” Australian newspapers report that the couple were traveling in a westerly direction, about 55km east of the Threeways roadhouse, when the incident occurred.
Just a week before the Fuchs encounter, another man reported seeing a UFO near Tennant Creek. Alan Martin, a deaf Aboriginal man in his 40s, was returning from the store when he said he saw a disc-shaped object at close range. A drawing he made later showed red, green and blue lights on a huge disc. Alan says the thing appeared out of nowhere during broad daylight and vanished a few minutes later after hovering nearby.

Shropshire Ufos 7th/8th june
I saw the objects at about 1am on Sunday 8th june next to the A5 at Nesscliffe, Shropshire. They were cube shaped- nothing like the lanterns shown by tern Hill Hotel and furthermore they were about the size of a bus and spinning head over heels very fast, though not travelling quickly. They were close to the ground and flshing all different colours. I have never seen anything like it. There were at least another 20-30 people out of their cars with me looking at these objects- they were huge. - Nikki

From BILL KNELL - 6/26/08:
UK UFO Encounters Blamed on Chinese Lanterns, but is that THE TRUTH?
A clerk at the Tern Hill Hall Hotel told UK newspapers that the launch of Chinese lanterns for a wedding reception was behind the mass sighting of UFOs by soldiers and civilians on June 7, 2008. However, some experts disagree. Even if the lanterns were released as claimed, they would have been too small to account for the objects that were witnessed, photographed and filmed. Mark Hanley, a British UFO Researcher says that he has investigated many cases involving the release of Chinese lanterns.
“These objects are easily identified.” Hanley says. “The size, colours and shape of the objects from the Tern Hill Hotel do not match what people described or photographed… Lanterns burn up after a short time and do not behave in the manner described by witnesses of the UFOs observed on June 7th… The hotel told me that they announce the release of lanterns in advance to avoid complaints from residents and local businesses that say they are a distraction and may cause fires.” Hanley claims that the hotel has been cited by local fire authorities on previous occasions.
Hanley’s statements are at odds with those of Stuart Willett, the manager of the Tern Hill Hall Hotel. Willett says, “We've had inquiries from residents before, but it's the first time it's been classed as a UFO.” He claims that the hotel has not previously announced the release of Chinese lanterns, but Anna Musgrave disagrees. She is a local resident and owner of a business that is near the hotel. According to several UK newspapers, Anna says: “I had one of those lanterns land on my property (prior to this incident) and the ____ thing caused damage. The hotel staff told us that they would be launching those ______ things, but there was still damage. I complained to the authorities…”
Whether or not the hotel was responsible for the June 7, 2008 sightings is a question that literally remains up in the air. However, that’s not the only sighting that some people are trying to debunk. The sighting of what the Shropshire Star newspaper called “a huge unidentified object rising from the ground towards a police helicopter in Cardiff at 12.40am on Sunday June 8...”is now also being blamed on the Chinese lanterns, despite the fact that they would have all burned up long before that encounter.
David Clarke, a self-described “UFO expert” that helped the British government prepare the MOD files on UFOs for public release told the BBC: “Call me cynical, but what are the chances that a flying saucer would come down from outer space in exactly the same place where lanterns have been released?" He fails to notice the time discrepancy or perhaps doesn’t care. Since most UFO researchers believe that many of the MOD files were whitewashed before being released, his opinion should not be seriously considered.
The helicopter crew involved in the UFO incident made it clear that the object they saw with their eyes could not be seen with night vision goggles. Marshall Clayton, an employee of Night Owl Tactical (maker of night vision goggles) says that would not be the case if what came at the helicopter was a Chinese lantern. “Any object that is self-illuminating would easily be seen with the goggles. Especially if it has an active flame… a candle or battery powered light would stand out.”
It’s important to understand that other objects were seen and photographed on the dates of June 7-8, 2008. Shaun Williams, 12, was taking some daytime photos with a digital camera near his house. When he got home and reviewed the photos, a classic disc-shaped UFO appeared on one of them along with an aircraft he was trying to photograph against a clear blue sky. Shaun said, “I couldn’t believe it when I looked back at my pictures and this strange object was there.” The object did not resemble a Chinese lantern in any way, shape or form.
It’s been thirty years since Steven Spielberg shocked audiences with his ground-breaking film, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The film was fact-based with fictional characters. As we near the thirtieth anniversary of its release, it’s sad to see that the news media is still obsessed with a need to provide skeptical explanations for each and every UFO sighting or encounter. They still believe that the burden of proof is on us, but do not hold other news stories to that same standard.
From THE SUN (UK) - 6/21/08:
Welsh Police Helicopter Encounters A UFO - June 7-8, 2008
Cardiff, Wales, UK - Stunned police gave chase to a UFO after it attacked their helicopter near a military base. The mystery aircraft zoomed straight at the chopper as the three-man cop crew prepared to land. The pilot banked sharply to avoid being hit, then launched into a high-speed pursuit. But he was forced to give up the chase as the helicopter’s fuel ran low – and the UFO escaped. All three crew described the object as “flying saucer-shaped” and circled by flashing lights. They reported it to senior officers, who passed on the report to Britain’s UFO investigators.
The incident happened as the helicopter was returning to the MoD’s St Athan base near Cardiff, where it is stationed. The chopper was at 500ft and waiting to land when the crew saw the UFO speeding towards them from below. A source said: “It closed in at great speed, aiming straight at the helicopter.
“The chopper had to swerve sharply to avoid being hit. The guys said if they’d stayed where they were, they’d be dead – it would’ve been a direct hit. They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw. These guys are hardened professionals and know people will take the mickey, but they are certain they saw a UFO.”
The source added: “After the near-collision they decided to follow it to find out what the hell it was. They belted across the Bristol Channel in pursuit, but it was too quick. They got to the North Devon coast and had to turn back because they were running low on fuel.”
The chopper is crammed with hi-tech cameras and surveillance gear, but the UFO somehow avoided being caught on film. Strangely, the crew could not see the craft with night-vision goggles – but all said it was “clearly visible” to the naked eye on the night of June 7. South Wales Police said last night: “We can confirm the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft. This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation.”
The MoD, which usually investigates UFO sightings, said: “We’ve heard nothing about this. But it is certainly not advisable for police helicopters to go chasing what they think are UFOs.”
MORE…from THE SUN (UK)
Hundreds of UFO sightings over Wales were reported yesterday after a mystery craft threatened a police helicopter. The Sun was bombarded with calls from readers who also saw the UFO on the same night as the chopper drama in Cardiff. And the mystery deepened as experts revealed airline pilots have spotted hundreds of UFOs over the nearby Bristol Channel this year. We exclusively revealed yesterday how the helicopter’s three-man crew took evasive action to avoid being rammed by the UFO. They then chased it to North Devon before giving up as fuel ran low.
Dawn Williams, 45, feared an Independence Day-style alien invasion when she spotted a sinister shape in the sky above Aberdare Country Park hours earlier, on June 8. She said: “It came over the horizon and was traveling for about a minute and a half before it disappeared.
“It was circular and had a dome on top – it looked like a planet with rings. I didn’t say anything at the time because I didn’t think anyone would believe me.”
Cabaret duo Katy Cunnion and Russell Quinn said a weird light in the sky followed them on the A5 near Shrewsbury an hour after the ’copter scare. Katy, 25, said: “It was hovering. At first I thought it was a helicopter, but every time I changed direction it was in the same place. "It disappeared, then I got a bit freaked out when the light came back close enough for us to see it was saucer-shaped with lights which flashed from one to another in a chain.
“It looked like no plane or aircraft I had ever seen.” It finally zoomed off “like a shooting star” after an hour. Katy’s description of the UFO matches the one given by the helicopter cops. Expert David Coggins, who has studied UFOs for 30 years, revealed: “I’m told that in the past three months airline pilots have been reporting at least two or three encounters a week with UFOs over the Bristol Channel. “Many of them will have rational explanations, but the probability is around 15 to 20 per cent can’t be identified.”
The Ministry of Defence, which investigates UFO sightings, said it was still awaiting the police report on the helicopter incident.

UK UFO Sightings UPDATE (6/25/08):
- DOG WALKER SEES UFO: A TAMWORTH woman claims to have witnessed a UFO as she walked her dog in Bromsgrove. Bonnie Lewis, aged 29, was with her boyfriend Colin Middlemore when she saw the strange cylinder shapes overhead at around 10pm on Friday (6/20/08). She said: “I ignored them, thinking they were satellites. “But when it was closer it was clear they were not. I’m not into sci-fi, but they were not from planet Earth.” - Birmingham Evening Mail, UK
- SOLDIER SIGHTING: A soldier claims he saw 13 UFOs in the skies above his military barracks in Shropshire (6/7/2008). Corporal Mark Proctor was among three squaddies who spotted the objects while out on night patrol. He filmed them on his mobile phone and reported the close encounter to Army top brass, reports The Sun. MoD experts are reportedly studying his report after ordering Mark and his pals not to say anything else about the incident. The sighting, at Tern Hill barracks near Market Drayton, came two hours before helicopter police officers reported an encounter with a huge craft 80 miles away near Cardiff. Cpl Proctor, 38, of the 1st Battalion Irish Regiment, recalled how he saw the UFOs just after 11pm on Saturday, June 7. He said: "I was on duty in the guard room when the other boys outside began shouting. I went out to see what the commotion was about and could see thirteen craft in the skies. "They were zig-zagging, but I filmed two before they disappeared. They were like rotating cubes with multiple colours. "I made a full report to my commanding officers and gave them my footage. The other lads were as amazed by it as I was." An MoD spokesman said: "We deal with any UFO sightings to see if there was a military threat." - The Sun, UK
- UK M.O.D. URGED TO INVESTIGATE UFO SIGHTINGS: The MoD confirmed today that it had been handed footage captured on a mobile phone by a corporal on guard duty at Tern Hill barracks, near Market Drayton, Shropshire, on June 7, 2008. Corporal Mark Proctor told a national newspaper he witnessed a "fleet" of objects zig-zagging across the sky at about 11pm. The 38-year-old soldier, a member of the 1st Battalion Irish Regiment, said: "I was on duty in the guard room when the other boys outside began shouting. "I went out to see what the commotion was about and could see 13 craft in the skies. They were like rotating cubes with multiple colours." The police helicopter incident happened at 12.40am on June 8 as the craft was hovering in the sky above RAF St Athan, a military base outside Cardiff. It was claimed the helicopter, which had a crew of three, had to take action to avoid being hit by a mystery object. A South Wales Police spokesman confirmed at the time the crew had seen an ?unusual aircraft?. Former MoD UFO expert Nick Pope said an inquiry to establish what had been seen by the witnesses was vital. Mr Pope said: "Something quite extraordinary does seem to be going on in British air space at the moment. "There has got to be an official inquiry into all this and we need a senior air force officer to take personal charge and oversee the inquiry." Radar tapes, as well as footage of the incidents, should be examined as part of the investigation, said Mr Pope, who added: "It?s indisputable that something was seen ? the very fact that it was seen by military personnel over a military base makes it a national security incident." An Army spokesman declined to comment in detail on the sightings at Tern Hill. "The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity," the spokesman said. "Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported." - South Wales Evening Post, UK

Bromsgrove incident - BONNIE Lewis is walking her dog last Friday night when these objects appear in the sky overhead. The 29-year-old, who is out with boyfriend Colin Middlemore, films the bizarre cylinders on her mobile phone. Bonnie, of Tamworth, Staffs, says: “I ignored them, thinking they were satellites. But when I looked closer it was clear they weren't. I am not into sci-fi, but they weren'tt from this planet.”
The MoD Incident - SOLDIERS on night patrol are stunned to see UFOs hovering in formation above their Army base. One squaddie, Cpl Mark Proctor, captures this eerie image on his phone and sends it to MoD chiefs. Two more colleagues also spot the startling “fleet” above Shropshire's Tern Hill barracks. Just hours later, three South Wales helicopter police officers watch in awe as a huge object rises from the ground to meet them as they land near Cardiff. The crew log the incident with their superiors. Less than an hour later, two cabaret performers report a strange light in the sky near Shrewsbury.
A shaken soldier told last night how he saw THIRTEEN UFOs spinning in the skies above his military barracks. Corporal Mark Proctor was among three squaddies who spotted the objects while out on night patrol. He filmed them on his mobile phone and reported the close encounter to Army top brass.
Ministry of Defence experts were studying his report and video yesterday — after ordering Mark and his pals NOT to say anything else about the incident. The sighting, at Tern Hill barracks near Market Drayton, Shrops, came two hours before helicopter police officers reported an encounter with a huge craft 80 miles away near Cardiff.
And three hours before a couple claimed they were followed by a strange light in the sky along the A5 near Shrewsbury. Yesterday further mind-boggling evidence emerged as dog walker Bonnie Lewis, 29, told how she filmed seven UFOs at Bromsgrove, Worcs, last Friday.
Cpl Proctor, 38, of the 1st Battalion Irish Regiment, recalled how he saw the amazing “craft” just after 11pm on Saturday, June 7. He said: “I was on duty in the guard room when the other boys outside began shouting. I went out to see what the commotion was about and could see thirteen craft in the skies. “They were zig-zagging, but I filmed two before they disappeared. They were like rotating cubes with multiple colours. “I made a full report to my commanding officers and gave them my footage. The other lads were as amazed by it as I was.”
A 19-year-old private on patrol said he also saw the “fleet”. The soldier, who asked not to be named, said: “I saw these things flying in the sky and I told my guard commander. “There were about 30 lights passing over for a few minutes, very high but not at a great speed. They were bright red. Another soldier saw them too.” An MoD spokesman said: “We deal with any UFO sightings to see if there was a military threat.” The Sun told last week how helicopter cops were confronted by an object as they attempted to land at their base near Cardiff the same night. Cabaret duo Katy Cunnion and Russell Quinn claimed they were pursued by the light in the sky for nearly an hour at 1am the following morning. And last night Bonnie told of seeing cylinder-shaped craft. She said: “They weren’t from this world. They made no sound and had flashing dots inside.”

ICE ICE BABY on Mars!
LOS ANGELES — Scientists believe NASA's Phoenix Mars lander exposed bits of ice while recently digging a trench in the soil of the Martian arctic, the mission's principal investigator said Thursday.
Crumbs of bright material initially photographed in the trench later vanished, meaning they must have been frozen water that vaporized after being exposed, Peter Smith of the University of Arizona, Tucson, said in a statement.
"These little clumps completely disappearing over the course of a few days, that is perfect evidence that it's ice," Smith said. "There had been some question whether the bright material was salt. Salt can't do that."

6/20/08 - From Bill Knell:
Gary McKinnon: Hacker or Hero?
The tale of Gary McKinnon began in 2001 when the forty-something Scottish born UK Citizen hacked his way into over ninety computers that belonged to the United States Government. His targets were machines used by the U.S. Military, Department of Defense and NASA. He claims that his goal was to prove that agencies of the United States Government were keeping information about Extraterrestrials hidden from the world. To hear McKinnon’s side of it, he succeeded.
According to McKinnon, he viewed actual photos of alien spaceships secretly stored on NASA computers. Gary says that there were “unfiltered and filtered photos” available and that the filtered photos had been airbrushed to hide the alien spacecrafts. Others say that he managed to obtain more information than he has taken credit for and this has made him America’s most wanted. That information may include the identities of ‘off world’ military officers assigned to other planets.
After being identified as the hacker that gained access to the top secret computers in the USA, Gary McKinnon was arrested by the British National Hi Tech Crime Unit in March of 2002. He was held for just under eight hours while all the computers he owned or were repairing for others were confiscated. Gary was eventually released and his machines returned, except for a Hard Drive sent to United States. U.S. Authorities used that and other evidence to indict McKinnon and request that he be extradited to America.
McKinnon’s legal team have managed to keep him in the UK so far, but the results of a hearing that was held on May 16, 2008 might change that. Although complicated, the House of Lords process may ultimately decide whether McKinnon is sent to the USA, allowed to stay in the UK or given the opportunity to serve a predetermined sentence in the UK based on a conviction under American Law. The problem is that U.S. and UK Laws differ in many ways and trying to match up the processes involved is no easy task no matter what side of this issue you are on.
Many believe that Britain’s lack of enthusiasm to prosecute McKinnon may be motivated by their own secrecy or even revenge. Some people say that McKinnon was secretly and unknowingly being used as a pawn by one or more British Intelligence Services. They believe that these services wanted to know what the U.S. Military did and does about ETs and their agenda. Others say that failure of the USA to turn over IRA supporters, sympathizers, fund-raisers and members to the UK during the 1960s and 1970s has resulted in the current stalemate with McKinnon.
Personally, I believe that the McKinnon situation has been a catalyst for change in the position held for so many years by the U.S. Government regarding Extraterrestrials. Once they became aware that the UK was not going to prosecute, muzzle or harass McKinnon, U.S. Authorities lost their trump card. If they cannot control their allies and complete access to what the U.S. Government knows about UFOs and Aliens, what choices remain? Disclosure becomes a necessity, rather than just an ultimate goal.
Perhaps that’s why we have heard about secret UN briefings on ETs, Catholic leaders telling their clergy and church members that it’s no sin to believe in Aliens and even providing training for future missionaries to the stars. Despite self-serving U.S. Government statements that still try to hide the truth about UFOs from the public whenever a major sighting or encounter occurs, the path has clearly been laid out. Disclosure is inevitable and will likely occur very soon depending on the ebb and flow of political tides within the USA.
Gary McKinnon may be a hacker, but I think that history may also judge him as a kind of hero. If he was a cyber spy for hire, he was a reluctant and somewhat inept one and there is absolutely no evidence to connect him with any terrorist or fanatically religious organizations of any kind. Even if he just did what he did as a lark, he did the USA a favor exposing technical weaknesses no one detected. More importantly, he did the UFO research community a favor by providing a technical trail of evidence to follow that proves the USA is hiding information about UFOs and Extraterrestrials.

6/13/08 - From Bill Knell:
Did Howard Hughes View a Captured UFO and It‘s Occupants?
Did Howard Hughes ever get a chance to view a captured or crashed UFO and its occupants? I have long pondered this question and there may now be an answer to it. According to a former employee of Hughes Aircraft, he did. The visit allegedly occurred not long after the crash of an alien spacecraft near Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. You may think this story belongs in the BELIEVE OR NOT file and you may be right, but I feel compelled to pass it on to you anyway.
After a recent radio show guest spot, I received an email from a person that claimed to be the daughter of a former Hughes Aircraft employee. Having grown up on Long Island where many government contactors are located, I am somewhat familiar with that part of the aircraft industry and have known many people that have worked on various U.S. Government contracts over the years. That helped me to make the decision to write this article and tell this story.
Linda is a retired teacher. She taught in public and private schools for over thirty years and has emailed me an impressive array of diplomas and certifications. She also emailed a few photos and some paperwork that verifies the fact that her father probably worked for Howard Hughes. Because she asked for anonymity, I cannot say much more about her or divulge where she currently lives at this time. I have encouraged her to come forward at some point and tell her own story in her own words.
Linda says that her father was involved with Hughes Aircraft as early as 1942, but the timeframe that concerns this story is the year 1947. It was during the summer of that year that Howard Hughes was obsessed with getting his oversized wooden seaplane nicknamed the "Spruce Goose” ready for a test flight. Officially known as the H-4 Hercules, the aircraft flew only once on November 2, 1947. The amount of time and work that went into getting the Hercules ready for that flight was unbelievable.
Her father worked closely with Hughes during the Hercules project and later became a full-time employee of Hughes Aircraft. The two men met after he was referred to Hughes by a mutual acquaintance just after the USA declared war on the Axis powers and entered World War II. Linda told me that Hughes used as her dad as a “problem solver.” He had a knack for being able to look at most any mechanical problem and quickly suggest a practical solution. He also had the kind of temperament that allowed him to work with the eccentric billionaire.
Hughes was besieged with a number of problems during the summer of 1947 including a U.S. Senate inquiry into the way he had managed funds for the Hercules and XF-11 Photoreconnaissance Aircraft projects. Linda says that shortly after he testified at the Senate hearings, Howard Hughes returned to oversee work on the Hercules and spoke to her father about his possible involvement in an important government project.
“My father and I frequently spoke on the phone during the early 1970s,” Linda told me. “We were very close and often bounced ideas off of one another. I do not recall the exact date, but I phoned to ask dad some questions about one thing or another and the subject of Howard Hughes came up. Howard’s face was constantly on the cover of most of the supermarket tabloids during that time and we began talking about the National Enquirer and how they kept hounding him (Howard Hughes).”
Linda’s father scolded her for wasting her money on the National Enquirer, but she said that her mother also purchased the tabloid. “My mother thought it was amusing that the bogus stories about Howard almost always appeared on the same page as their standing reward for proof that UFOs and Aliens existed,” Linda continued. “Dad told me that Howard Hughes could have claimed that reward if he needed the money and laughed about the fact that he didn’t. When I asked him what he meant by that, he told me the story.”
According to Linda, Howard Hughes and her father were not friends and her dad would probably not be considered a part of Hughes‘ inner circle if such a thing existed. However, he did spend a lot of time with Hughes during the Hercules project and the two had a casual working relationship as long as her father delivered the goods. She told me that her dad said he was busy brainstorming with some engineers when Hughes summoned him into an empty office. Hughes had a kind of inquisitively stern look on his face and that usually meant that he wanted some advice on how to solve a problem or was about to start a new project.
Howard stepped away from the door to the office, but didn’t close it. There was enough noise outside of the office so that no one could hear their conversation anyway. Howard sat down on a stool near the window. Linda’s father stepped over to where he was sitting and listened intently. Hughes hated repeating himself and despised people that were not good listeners. Hughes told her dad that he had been contacted by a “high ranking member of the United States Armed Forces” while he was in Washington, D.C.
The billionaire was used to receiving unusual requests from the military. He was known as someone that could keep a secret and solve complicated problems. According to Linda’s father, this one might have been the mother of all the most secret and complicated situations that the government ever faced. Hughes said that he visited a military base on the way back from the congressional hearings. He didn’t mention where it was located and provided few details about what happened there.
Linda’s father said that Hughes seemed uncomfortable talking about his visit to the base. He hated situations that he couldn’t personally control and seemed to indicate that the entire event was orchestrated and controlled by the military. With the exception of Hughes, no civilians were present. Howard said that they showed him a new type of aircraft. Most of it was in pieces and it was obvious that the thing had crashed or been shot down. Hughes assumed it might have been something that the Russians cooked up.
It wasn’t until Hughes got closer to the material that he noticed it was anything but conventional. He didn’t pick up or touch any of it, but told Linda’s father that it looked like “the damnedest stuff I’ve ever seen.” The military officers present told him that despite the fact that it was in pieces, the material was extremely resistant to heat, cold and pressure. They also said that it was almost impossible to penetrate, yet it might have been an implosion that caused the crash. Howard never said if it had any writing on it and provided no further details about the material or the aircraft.
Hughes told Linda’s father that the dead bodies of the crew members from the aircraft had also been recovered by the military and were mostly intact. He said they allowed him to view the bodies and described them as looking like “dwarves” or “deformed midgets” wearing seamless flight suits. He added no details about where or how they were being kept. Instead, he got right to the point. “They want me to figure this thing out and I want you on board,” Hughes explained. That was the end of their meeting.
A few weeks later Hughes took Linda’s father aside again and told him to forget about their previous conversation in the office. He gave her dad the impression that there were too many hassles and not enough money for him to get involved with that project. Her father felt it was more plausible to believe that Hughes wouldn’t have been able to run the show and didn’t want to get involved with something he couldn’t fully direct. Or, perhaps he knew or had learned something more about the project that turned him off to it.
It wasn’t until many years after their conversation in that office that Linda’s father came to realize that Hughes might have been talking about a crashed UFO and, specifically, one that probably crashed or was shot down during the summer of 1947. Her dad had never shown any type of interest in UFOs or Aliens. Linda believed he might have come across the information about one of the UFO crashes from the tabloids that his wife read. The timing would have been correct because I saved issues of the National Enquirer and other supermarket tabloids during the 1970s and recall articles about alien and military encounters and UFO crashes.
I asked Linda if her dad might have been kidding her about the Hughes incident. “Oh, no,” she said, “Dad never told tale tales. He had enough true stories about Hughes and other important people he met throughout the years… He didn’t need to make up stories… I am certain he was telling me the truth.” I also asked Linda how many times they discussed that story after he first told it to her. She replied, “Not more than a couple of times… He wasn’t interested in UFOs… He told me the story on a whim because he thought it might give me a chuckle or two… Dad had nothing to add to the story and I believe that’s why we never discussed it much.”
Unfortunately, her father passed away a few years ago. I doubt he realized the impact that the story had on his daughter. Before she heard it, Linda barely gave the subject of UFOs a second thought. Afterward, she slowly became fascinated with the subject and told me, “My father told me that what Howard said he saw sounded a lot like what the tabloids were describing as crashed alien spaceships… and the bodies that he viewed fit the descriptions of aliens… I do not believe everything that politicians tell me, but I never saw a reason to disbelieve what they were saying about UFOs. What would they have to gain by lying about them? It wasn’t until my father told me the story about Howard and the material that I began to doubt their denials…”
Linda said that she started reading UFO articles published in some of the mainstream newspapers and magazines. Those tidbits awakened a casual interest in learning more about the subject. However, after retired Colonel Jesse Marcel came forward to expose the Roswell UFO cover up, she went out of her way to learn as much as she could about UFO crashes and military encounters. “I purchased a used copy of a book by Donald Keyhoe and read it cover to cover,” Linda told me. “That book opened my eyes… I now believe there is much more to the subject than what we‘re being told.”
I asked Linda why she waited so long to tell the story she heard from her father about Howard Hughes and the strange aircraft. “I am a very private person… I believe in doing all I can to promote education and to encourage students to stay in school. I want them to go as far as they can in life… I do not want to become the poster child for government conspiracies… You seem legitimately interested in discovering the truth about UFOs and Aliens. I believe that if people have a chance to learn about the story that my father told to me, they might feel compelled to come forward and share their own experiences and information with you.”
I have a million more questions for Linda, but it is obvious that her father was given little more than a thumbnail sketch about Howard Hughes experience with a strange object and its occupants. He was only able to tell her what Hughes had told him. Not the best scenario, so I cannot say for sure that this story involves a crashed UFO and it‘s occupants. I can say that I believe Linda’s dad heard a story about a strange aircraft and unusually tiny crewmembers from Howard Hughes and that he told it to his daughter just the way he heard it, straight from the horse’s mouth.
I have been researching Linda’s story for about a week. I have spoken with her over the phone on several occasions. With her permission, I recorded the calls and subjected them to a voice stress analysis using an inexpensive testing unit I purchased a few years ago. If accurate, the results indicate that she was not being deceptive during our conversation. As a experienced UFO researcher, I was pleased that she cooperated with various requests I had for more information. That is almost always a good sign.
Linda has emailed enough documentation to make me believe that she is who she claims to be and that her father was employed at Hughes Aircraft. The materials she provided indicate that he probably worked for Howard Hughes on specific projects as a consultant before he became a full time employee. Because Hughes never told him that he actually saw an alien spacecraft or referred to the dead crewmembers as aliens, we have to fill in the blanks with some careful speculation.
If Linda’s story does anything, it proves that people out there are sitting on important information about UFOs because they still fear the repercussions that can result from coming forward to share it. The blame for that may be placed on the doorstep of a news media that seems incapable of covering anything deeper that where politicians attend church or how old they are. They ignore real news and issues in favor of serve serving statements from government flunkies bent on forwarding an increasingly outdated agenda.

The Fallout Over MUFON's Texas UFO Investigation
I had hoped to avoid having to mention this further, but my email inbox was filled to overflowing over the weekend with caustic remarks about the fallout over MUFON's Texas UFO investigation (if you can call it that).
I assume that most of the anger over the conclusions arrived at by the Texas Branch of the Mutual UFO Network have to do with various articles in large newspapers that have appeared over the past week. Most of these articles have the same theme: "See, We told ya there was nothing to all this UFO stuff!"
For my part, I have already emailed the authors and newspapers associated with those articles to say that not all reputable UFO researchers and investigators agree with the Texas MUFON conclusions. I have also reminded them (and I feel a responbility to remind you) that not all MUFON members and chapters feel that the Texas MUFON investigators were correct.
I have received a number of emails from MUFON members and certified investigators that have concluded that Texas MUFON did a poor job investigating the Erath County cases, or didn't take all the evidence into account. You should know that many MUFON chapters and members are solid people that have given a huge amount of their time, effort and money to investigate the UFO phenomenon. They are certainly worthy of our respect and admiration.
If you are as upset as I and others are about the aftermath of the Texas MUFON investigation of the Stephenville, Dublin and Erath County UFO Sightings, perhaps you should email MUFON or cancel your subscription to their journal. Those choices are up to you. Sometimes UFO research organizations spend too much time trying to keep the skeptics happy and need a wake-up call from their members.

Transparent Humanoid Photo from Mexico
Noted UFO researcher Jaime Maussan reports that an extraterrestrial tried to attack Octavio Melo, a young coffee plantation worker, in Ixhuatlan del Café, Veracruz, Mexico. The incident took place in March of 2007. As Octavio was driving through the coffee plantation road at around 11:30am, he noticed a ghostly-looking figure just ahead and stopped. As the creature floated across the road in front of him, Octavio took several photos of it with his cell phone camera. Jaime Maussan belives this creature may be some type of transparent humanoid.

Romanian Defense Ministry Claims Fighter Aircraft is Struck by Four UFOs
The Romanian Defense Ministry released a statement this week that confirmed that one of their fighter aircraft was struck by four unidentified flying objects on Oct. 31, 2007. The ministry said the MIG 21 Lancer fighter plane was struck by the objects during a training mission, but was able to land safely.
Lt. Col. Nicolae Grigorie said a video recorded by cameras onboard the plane depicts "two solid bodies, which are not translucid." Grigorie said authorities are working to determine what the objects could have been. "They couldn't be birds because there are no birds in Europe able to fly so high. And they couldn't be ice bodies because it was a clear sky -- neither could they be pieces of another plane or a meteor," he said. Romanian authorities have also ruled out rocket launches and ground artillery fires as causes of the incident.

Triangular UFOs Over San Jose
Two fast-moving shining objects in the weekend daytime sky over San Jose has local residents wondering if they were UFOs. Bob Lochridge, a local resident who recorded the objects on video, said they streaked across the skies. "They appeared to be triangular pieces of metal," he said. "They were up very, very high. I couldn't see them without the camera." The objects were first reported above the Oakland Hills at 3 p.m. Sunday and quickly moved southward through the Bay Area skies. The FAA Air Traffic Control Center in Fremont did not report any unusual air traffic and authorities indicated that the objects were probably satellites (why not just say they were swamp gas?).
6/9/08 - From Bill Knell:
MUFON SAYS NOTHING EXCITING HAPPENED IN ERATH COUNTY, TEXAS, AND THOSE GLYPTHS IN THE SKY WERE JUST A STAR
It seems that Ken Cherry, Texas State Director for Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), simply cannot say that anything really strange happened in Stephenville, Dublin or Erath County, Texas. The preliminary report which he helped to prepare says there is no conclusive proof that what folks in those areas say was a UFO. The report also indicates that the video of all those glyphs in the sky was probably just a star.
I recall when the Stephenville, Texas, story first broke on the national news here in the USA. Cherry appeared on Fox News and said that he planned to get some people down to Stephenville on the weekend or whenever they could get there. He pointed out that MUFON investigators are all volunteers and that he is a business owner himself. Well, I think that Ken should stick to his business and leave UFO research to those who have the time and expertise to examine the greater body of evidence surrounding what really happened in Erath County.
The Stephenville, Dublin and Erath County UFO encounters are not just about one sighting. They involve multiple sightings, credible witnesses, photographic and video evidence, a government cover-up, harassment of witnesses and other events involving high strangeness. To focus in on one sighting and pretend that all the available evidence doesn’t point to a series of unexplained events is irresponsible and a game that I would expect skeptics, not credible UFO investigators, to play.
Skeptics prove that if you want to explain away anything, it can be done. They begin their investigations by trying to debunk a paranormal or supernatural event, instead of objectively examining it. The flaw in that formula is that debunking doesn’t allow for the thoughtful consideration of evidence. It limit’s the investigator’s ability to consider the big picture and other circumstances that may be related to any given case. Skepticism is the easy road. Objectivity is hard.
Apart from coming to some very suspicious conclusions based on the available evidence, there is another consideration that causes me to question the reliability of the suppositions in the MUFON report. MUFON has a long and well deserved reputation of trying to please skeptics. They practically made a superstar out of Phil Klass. Anyone that’s been researching UFOs for more than a few years knows that you will never succeed in keeping the true believers or skeptics happy. It’s impossible to avoid running afoul of their narrow viewpoints.
MUFON is also known as a group that doesn’t work and play well with others. I seriously doubt that the investigators that prepared this report took the time to speak with people that didn’t come to them. MUFON has never learned that an investigation means more than just examining the information contained in sighting reports. You have to get out there and speak with other credible reporters and researchers that are on the scene. They may have important information about the events you are investigating. If you don’t, your report isn’t complete and can easily mislead the public about the facts and circumstances of any given UFO event.
I want to be fair and remind readers that MUFON is a grass roots organization and, arguably, the oldest UFO investigative and research group in existence. I know for a fact that many of their local chapters are made up of people who are sincere, dedicated and fair. You cannot judge the entire organization by what any one member or group of members may do. However, I think that the conclusions in the report on Stephenville are reprehensible and exhibit and amazing lack of investigative skill.
Some of the explanations that the Texas MUFON investigators managed to cook up to explain the Erath County sighting and video include a military target sleeve, sensitivity of cameras, lights from other sources, sun dogs, lens flares and bad film. These brilliant deductions were announced on May 18, 2008 at a public library meeting (I hope it was held in the FICTION area). Is it any wonder that at least one Texas newspaper likened the MUFON investigation team to the Scooby Doo Gang? Enough said.

6/8/08 - From Bill Knell:
Listening for ET at Mount Shasta
It may be no accident that a remote volcanic valley area near Mt Shasta, California, was chosen as the home for a new array of 350 radio telescope dishes used by SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). The area on and near Mount Shasta has a well-earned reputation for being a place where extraterrestrials may be visiting our planet.
It is standard operating procedure to build radio telescope arrays as far from civilization as practical. The Hat Creek Radio Observatory is thirty miles from Shingletown, California and a long way from any large cities. Shingletown is a tiny town with a few shops, a bar and restaurant. It’s also a place where unexplained triangular lights, glowing orange orbs and unidentified disc-shaped objects are frequently seen.
Mount Shasta is the cone of an extinct volcano and part of the Cascade Mountain Range in Northern California. It rises to over 14,000 in height and is located near the California-Oregon border. Stories of UFO and Bigfoot sightings mix with a long held belief that a vortex or space-time doorway lies somewhere on or near the Mount.
Tunnels run deep into Mount Shasta. The Rosicrucians say the tunnels were used by the Lemurians, survivors of the sinking of the continent of Mu over 12,000 years ago. They also claim that the people of Lemuria still live deep in the bowels of the Mount. Some UFO researchers claim that the U.S. Government allows Aliens to use a facility deep inside or under Shasta as an earth base.
Archeologists tell us that the Mount Shasta area has been inhabited by humans since as early as 2500 B.C. They claim that the first inhabitants were Native Americans who considered the Mount to be a sacred place and their center of creation. Since that time, over one hundred different religious organizations and new age groups have claimed the Mount as a sacred place, powerful cosmic power point or landing zone for ETs.
The Hat Creek Radio Observatory is being funded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Rick Forster, one of the few astronomers who believes other life forms exist out there and is actually interested in contacting them, is helping to prepare the dishes for use. He says, “"It's nuts to think we're alone… It's just a matter of looking in the right direction, at the right time, at the right frequency, with the right algorithm.”
Frank Drake recently visited the new facility. He was one of the founders of the original S.E.T.I. program and created the Drake Equation. That mathematical formula alleges to identify the number of alien civilizations with which we might be able to communicate and the numbers are staggering. Some researchers have used the Drake Equation to calculate that over one million alien civilizations in the Milky Way Galaxy may be sending out some sort of signals that S.E.T.I. can detect.
The Hat Creek Radio Observatory will allow S.E.T.I. to search for ET signals in a much broader range. The 350 dishes will combine to form a huge radio telescope that will make the most of present-day technology. Jill Tarter is one of the driving forces behind the program. When funding for the government’s version of S.E.T.I. was cut, she connected with radio astronomers worldwide to help establish the S.E.T.I. Institute so that the work would continue.
Tarter, now sixty four years of age, has been listening for ET for over forty years. She became the model the Jodie Foster character of Ellie Arroway in Contact, the film based on Carl Sagan’s novel. As Director of S.E.T.I.’s Research Department, Jill Tarter is heavily involved in the Hat Creek project. She says, “If we find a second technological civilization, we will know there are many.” Let’s just hope they’re friendly!

UFO Alert: Vietnam UFO Crash Metal May Be The Smoking Gun
According to Officials at the state run Vietnam News Agency, “An unidentified flying object exploded at about 10am on May 27 over the northern part of Phu Quoc Island." Colonel Nguyen Van Qui, a military commander on the island was the source of the report and no civilian, commercial or military aircraft are said to be missing in that area of southern Vietnam or nearby Cambodia.
The object that crashed was first seen in the skies over Cambodia where officials said it appeared as a “fire in the sky.” The thing exploded shortly after that and what was left of it crashed on Phu Quoc Island. Citizens of a commune on the island retrieved a piece of metal from the crash that they described as measuring “one metre by about 60 centimeters.” The metal is unusual looking and appears to have symbols engraved or stamped into it.
Additional pieces of metal were recovered by members of the military and civilians. At this writing, there are fourteen pieces in possession of the Military Command of Phu Quoc District. The metal debris rained down in Ganh Dau and Cua Can communes on Phu Quoc at about 10:20 a.m. on May 27, 2008, according to Lam Quang Chanh, a spokesperson for the provincial People’s Committee.
While it’s entirely possible that the sightings and recovered material may have nothing to do with an Alien Spacecraft, the events surrounding this crash are similar to other incidents involving UFOs. For example, some of the symbols that appear to be engraved or stamped into the metal (if they are genuine) are similar to those described by witnesses on the thing that crashed near Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, in the 1960s. An I-beam from the Roswell UFO Crash in 1947 was also reported to have unknown symbols on it.
Phu Quoc Island is a popular tourist destination located in the Gulf of Thailand. It has thirteen resort areas and several urban centers. The island was once considered a backwater area known primarily for the production of anchovy sauce and black pepper. Once a French territory with rubber and coconut plantations, Phu Quoc Island housed a prisoner of war camp during the Vietnam War. Vietnam and Cambodia struggled over possession of the island for years after the war until it finally became a part of Vietnam in 1975.
UFO crashes are rare events. When they occur in an area of the world that may not be under the control of the usual cover-up suspects, an opportunity presents itself for the nation and people involved to share what has happened with the world. Vietnam is a Communist country with close ties to China, so there still may be a tight lid clamped on this event at some point. If that doesn’t occur, we may have a chance to see the smoking gun that proves intelligent Alien life forms exist and are visiting the Earth.

UFO activist Jeff Peckman teamed up with UFO Experiencer Stan Romanek during a recent press conference to call for a ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver. Peckman believes that the commission will help to prepare the city for extraterrestrial visitations. Romanek is a Colorado native who believes he has already been visited by aliens many times and presented what he claims is proof of those visitations in the form of a video of “a living, breathing alien.” The video was filmed in 2003 while Romanek was living in Nebraska. He claims that he set up a camera to capture evidence of a Peeping Tom that was regularly peering into a room where one of his daughters slept.
Romanek released what he said was a small portion of the video to the news media at the press conference with Peckman. Reporters that attended the event say that the video was dark and appeared to show what is commonly described as a small ‘grey’ type of alien peeking in a window that is said to be eight feet above the ground. The ’alien’ was bobbing up and down and blinking its eyes during the brief segment. Jason Sheehan, a reporter, self-proclaimed UFO witness and admitted believer attended the press conference and made this statement about Romanek’s video in the Denver Westword News, “I was just disappointed. It looked so patently fake, so ridiculously cheap and goofy.”
I am objective and try to maintain an eclectic view of UFOs and the evidence available to support the existence of extraterrestrials and their visits to the earth. I dislike judging what may first appear to be lackluster evidence for UFOs and ETs too harshly. After all, we’ve been practically brainwashed by the government and mainstream media to believe that UFOs and Aliens are just figments of deluded or overactive imaginations. Others will say that computer generated graphics provide a new and easy way for almost anyone to create fake aliens doing all kinds of things. Those kinds of objections being thrown at us 24/7 are bound to influence our opinion when it comes to viewing evidence like the Romanek video.
Portions of the alien video presented to the press have been posted on the internet. If those postings are real, you can take at look and decide for yourself. If you care to wait, the video will soon be part of a documentary currently titled as “Starseed: The Stan Romanek Story.” Romanek says he has sold the rights to his alien video to a film company. That makes me want to ask him, “How much is that Alien in the window? The one with the bobbing head and blinking eyes. How much is that Alien in the window? Will your documentary be a huge disappointment or a big and wonderful surprise?”
I should not be so sarcastic, but part of the problem with Stan Romanek’s video is his decision to sell it to a film company before it has been fully examined, researched and authenticated. I can certainly understand the frustration of anyone with video, photos or information that they’re trying to incorporate into a documentary only to find that it’s already been put out on the internet. I have had my own articles, information, video and audio recordings placed online by others without even so much as a brief mention giving me any credit. However, I also believe that the value of the Romanek video would not be lessened by showing part of it to the public prior to the release of the documentary.
If the same small segment shown to reporters was released to the public it would give UFO researchers and video experts time to weigh in on it. If they could not find enough objections to dismiss it as a hoax, that would increase the value of the video and make people want to see his documentary when it becomes available. Instead, we find ourselves in the familiar ‘grey’ area of a yet another UFO Experiencer wanting people in and out of the UFO research community to accept his evidence without seeing all of it.
Romanek and Peckman claim that one Denver film expert concluded that the video had not been doctored. The same expert says that if the image appearing in the window was a puppet, it would be a very expensive and elaborate puppet. That’s a non-starter. We could just as easily say that someone filming a video of a star in the night sky without special effects was not faking it even if they said the star was a UFO. Zack Hildebrand of Wonderhouse Productions in Hollywood says that it could cost as little as $100 to create a simple ‘puppet’ to do the things the alien in Romanek’s video does.
Members of the Rocky Mountain Paranormal Researcher Society have already dismissed the Romanek video as a fake and created one of their own to show how easy that would be to do. However, a visit to their website shows that their primary interest is in Ghost Research. They proudly display photos of themselves with the cast of the Ghost Hunters television show. That leads me to believe that members of the Rocky Mountain Paranormal Researcher Society subscribe to the same view held by the Ghost Hunters which is to debunk first and ask questions later.
Without full access to the video, we are left to examine the claims of Stan Romanek based on his story and the evidence he has publicly displayed. During a lecture he recently presented at the Auraria Campus in Denver, Colorado, Romanek said that he videotaped his first encounter with a UFO east of the Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver in 2000. He also spoke about government agents, extraterrestrial beings, unusual craft, balls of light, threats, floating objects, bizarre communications, advanced scientific equations, implants and more.
On the surface, Romanek’s story seems awfully conspiratorial. However, there are many pros among what some consider to be a number of cons. One is that some of the objects he has filmed were also independently videotaped by Jeff Woolwine of Phoenix, Arizona. Jeff says that many of the objects he has caught on video came right up out of the Superstition Mountains. He also claims that Native American drawings in those areas show the objects have been doing this for a long time. Many of Romanek’s videos are filmed near mountains.
Another interesting pro is the mathematical prowess shown by Stan Romanek. According to Dana Thibault, a researcher who claims to have been involved with Romanek for a year, Romanek suffers from dyslexia and has the math competency of a fourth grader. Despite his apparent disabilities, Stan has managed to produce complicated equations that predict little known celestial events and allege to provide information about zero point propulsion.
Romanek claims to that he received the equations from extraterrestrials. He does have scars and markings that are similar to those that appear on other people who claim to have been abducted or contacted by the ’grey’ type of aliens. However, some of his photos leave much to be desired. It’s possible that he reads too much into the photos. That is also a common trait among abductees and contactees. If I were to casually look at the evidence for his case apart from the alien video, I could easily conclude that he was in some sort of contact with aliens.
If Stan Romanek wants people to take his story and alien video seriously, he will have to open himself and his evidence up to the same sort of scrutiny, examination and critical analysis that so many who came before him have had to endure. It’s not a pleasant process, but in a world where most people are either true believers or skeptics, there are just not a lot of other options.

UFO Alert: JEFF PECKMAN SAYS HE’LL RELEASE A VIDEO OF A “LIVING, BREATHING ALIEN” TODAY (FRIDAY, 5/30/08)
Jeff Peckman is pushing a ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver and says he has actual video of a “living, breathing Alien.” He plans to unveil that video to the media at a Denver, Colorado press conference today (Friday, 5/30/08).
Jeff says, “It shows an extraterrestrial's head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that's visible through an infrared camera.” Peckman claims that the Alien is about 4 feet tall and can be seen blinking. He also plans to present “other related credible evidence" proving aliens exist will be shown at Friday's news conference. For more about Jeff Peckman and his initiative, visit his website at http://www.extracampaign.org
The press may be welcome, but the public is not invited. According to Peckman, “No one will be allowed to film the segment with the extraterrestrial because there is an agreement in place limiting that kind of exposure during negotiations for the documentary.” The documentary he is referring to is being produced by Stan Romanek.
Stan Romanek claims to have experienced UFO sightings and Alien encounters. Known for his complex math equations created while under hypnosis, Romanek either created or was involved in creating the Drake Equation which calculates the number of intelligent civilizations possible in our galaxy. He also claims to have materials given to him by extraterrestrials. You can find out more about him and his documentary at http://www.stanromanek.com

From Bill Knell:
UFO Alert: Jeff Peckman Alien Video Update
Although confusion reigns in the UFO Community over authenticity of the alleged video of an Alien peeking into a window, you can decide for yourself. Take a look at the Alien video via the link above. Jeff Peckman is pushing a ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver. While some UFO research organizations like MUFON support the ballot initiative, they are not so sure about the video.
MUFON Spokesperson Alejandro Rojas says he was present for the Friday, 5/30/08 Denver Press Conference where Peckman unveiled the Alien video. He was also a guest on Coast To Coast and stated that MUFON does not yet have a stance on the video. Rojas did say that “the way it was released was awful. It was a terrible idea."
I can certainly understand how Rojas feels, however, I don’t really know how anyone would expect a person with a video like that to release it to the press or anyone else. Thanks to years of anti-UFO government propaganda, most people will reject it out of hand anyway. The media apparently did.
Fox News mentioned Peckman’s ballot initiative on their Friday cable news broadcast just a few times in the morning. They aired a brief snippet of an interview they did with him a month ago and said he was planning to introduce an Alien video to the public during a press conference that day, but that was it! They followed up the brief snippet by saying “we’ll bring you more on this story if it’s newsworthy.” I guess it wasn’t.
I recall when I investigated an incident where a UFO hovered over and landed it a New York City Park (Kissena Park, Flushing, Queens, NYC) during the late 1980s. The event was witnessed by hundreds of people (possibly thousands), a crop circle was left behind, a tree and other objects nearby were oddly affected and strange material was found in the circle.
When I arranged a press conference in the park to explain the case, the foreign media, Reuters, CNN and other large news gathering groups showed up. I walked the reporters through what happened and showed them the evidence we had. They treated the story fairly and covered it well. However, we didn’t offer it to the media in a half-hearted way. We didn’t apologize for telling people about what happened.
Is it any wonder that the media doesn’t take UFO evidence seriously when we offer it to them in manner that leaves them wondering if we even believe UFOs and Aliens exist? We can always be wrong if the evidence turns out to be false, but we can’t afford to ignore or dispute it when it appears to be genuine.
As MUFON Assistant New York State Director, I spent quite a large sum of money to send samples of the materials, video, photos of the area, and copies of everything else I had from the Kissena Park case to Walt Andrus (former MUFON Director). After waiting for weeks to hear from him, I gave up and called. His only comment was, “Do you know what kind of grass was growing in that park. It’s important that we know that.”
The materials I sent to MUFON ended up in the black hole of their file cabinets. I assume that were too busy with a case they felt was more important and credible, that being the Gulf Breeze Florida, Ed Walters Photographic Case (yuk yuk). At the same time, I was criticized by some UFO researchers for releasing the Kissena Park UFO Case information to the media shortly after it occurred. One researcher said, “This is an important case, but we need to release it in the appropriate manner.” And what manner would that be?
News is only news if you release it to the media in a timely manner. Most experienced UFO investigators and researchers possess the mental skills to take a look at a case and decide whether it has enough merit to be of high strangeness without requiring a year long investigation before they comment on it.
Of course I have to be fair and say that MUFON is a grass roots organization. It has many dedicated, serious, enthusiastic and experienced members that among the
